This work was way outside of my typical comfort zone, and I was working with my friend/beta pretty close to the deadline to cut out the parts that weren't working and bolster the parts that were. I'm proud of myself for taking a swing at something casefic-ish, and for stepping outside of my typical kind of wheelhouse to try and make something that my Seekrit Santa recipient would like--and for not backing out when it wasn't going quite the way I wanted, partway through. Conundrum seemed to enjoy it, and so I'm counting this one as a success!

Oh, I liked this one! I wanted it to be longer! But I have also written for the dSSS deadline, and sometimes stuff has to be cut in order to get the gift-fic delivered on time.

I really did like this, though, it was a lot of fun and I liked the idea of RayK being a cousin to Francesca and RayV. The banter! The snark! It was all very lovely. ♥

oh thank you!! <3 <3 I'm really glad to hear that, honestly--I really liked the concept I came up with for this one, and I always have a blast playing the two Rays off of each other, but this was so far away from the kind of thing that I usually write that I definitely struggled with it. Figuring out the characterization in this setting was surprisingly hard at times, actually, especially Fraser's!

Part of me also wishes it was a little longer, honestly, but the longer version of the fic just wasn't coming together and, like you said, sometimes you just have to cut things in order to get it delivered on time. Maybe some day I'll come back to this and try to actually write the long version?
