Flower Crown Day Rides Again!

After getting some input from dreamwidth (thank you, DW crowd!) over on the comm, we’re expanding the name to “C6D Flower Crown Day”, so there’s less confusion over what kind of things you can post. (Ride wisely suggested that I should call it "due South/C6D Flower Crown Day", for maximum clarity--the flipside of that is the ~aesthetic~ of C6D vs CKR is similar, and so I'm hesitating solely for that very superficial reason, but I will probably end up taking her very good advice and change it all the way.)

I know we’re running a bit later than last year, but sometimes life comes at you fast and I did not get my act together in January. Right now, I’m considering:

• this Friday, 1/31
• this Saturday, 2/1
• next Friday, 2/7
• next Saturday, 2/8

Any of them should work for me, but what works for you all?

Oh dear. The current demands of my RL will almost certainly prevent me from creating anything for Flower Crown Day this time around, so I'm not going to skew the vote by voting for a specific date.

Well, IRL comes first when there are family health matters. I am spending so much of my time in the kitchen nowadays -- I've got two family members with health issues who have to be on special diets, and I'm the one doing all the weighing and measuring and preparing and labeling and tracking of foodstuffs. It feels like a full-time job plus I actually HAVE a full-time job. Add to that my being in charge of the Escapade Slashcon Welcommitte and it's less than a month until Escapade, and between the one non-fannish thing and the one fannish-thing I am way occupied.

oh wow, that is so much *hugs* . It sounds like you're pulling triple shifts to keep everything afloat right now, and I'm sorry that I'm so far away and can't offer any kind of real, RL support--I hope things slow down for you soon and your family members get better/stay as healthy as they can, but please take care of yourself, too <3 <3

And it's very likely that the two family members for whom I'm filling the role of dietitian and chef will fully recover and eventually not need such rigorous help from me.

Not sure I'll have time for anything -- maybe if people threw plotbunnies at me? in which case the later the date, the better? -- but prob not, so don't delay on my account!

(Also 31st is a really shitty day here, the day we leave the EU, so it would be nice to have due South stuff to escape into.)

Oohh, your combined thoughts here have given *me* a thought--I don't know how feasible this is or if it would appeal to people at all, but what would you think of the notion of doing, like, an "anti-Brexit kink meme" on the dSVB comm that we ran for, idk, maybe two weeks to a month? I think it wouldn't be too huge of a deal if it overlapped with Flower Crown Day--people mostly do visual things for Flower Crown Day, and since kink memes by their nature are pretty sporadic in terms of timing it could work? Is this a totally absurd idea?

I have 0% photoshop skills, but I'd suggest 2/8, just because it gives people plenty of time. But as I said, I have no skillz, so take that with a grain of salt.

Your vote still counts! Honestly, while some people put a lot of effort into making super cool things, I also usually make at least a couple things that are just a screen grab with a transparent flower crown I found somewhere slapped over top, the sort of thing that takes less than a minute to make in MS Paint. So don't let a lack of photoshop skills keep you from making things if you want to! People also write fic sometimes, too, so again, if you feel inspired please don't feel like the fest is confined to visual mediums!

All of that said, a HUGE part of the fest staying fun are people getting excited about what other people have made, so whether or not you're making anything for it, your vote counts because a) you're a part of this community!, but also b) if you think you might reblog stuff/read fic/leave kudos/send someone who might ask for them a prompt, then! you are a participant in the fest! In my opinion anyways :D

(if you have it--a REALLY easy way to cheat at photo editing is powerpoint. super user friendly tools, things layer like a dream, and when you're done it's really easy to save. It's never going to make anything super high quality or do anything too fancy, but for a comparatively low res layering of 2-3 images that gets the job done it's hard to beat.)
